Ricardo Villalobos releases 40 minute remix of DJ Python and Ela Minus

The two-track remix pack comes in at almost an hour long

Ricardo Villalobos has taken on remix duties of Ela Minus and DJ Python’s 2022-released EP ‘♡’ (or ‘corazón’), which landed in September via Smugglers Way.

The remix pack sits at a lengthy 53-minutes with two extended reworks of ‘Kiss U’ and ‘Abril Lluvias Mil’, the latter coming in at a whopping 40-minutes.

"Villalobos is very meaningful to me since my teenage years,” says US producer DJ Python. “Too honoured to do something like this with him. The Michael Jordan of music to my eyes.”

The original 28-minute EP consists of six tracks, three of which are instrumental cuts, and was highly praised upon release in September - an “intimate and vulnerable” record exploring love as a “radical practice”.

The record was written entirely by Colombian singer-songwriter Ela Minus, who said of the original release: “I want people to listen to the songs and feel like I’m holding onto them. I’m giving people a place in this EP where they can feel like they belong.”

Both remixes will receive a vinyl release in July with a small number of limited edition 12” records. “What can I say? It’s a Ricardo Villalobos remix EP!”, says Ela Minus.

The 40-minute rework of ‘Abril Lluvias Mil’ is one of Villalobos’ longest tracks yet, coming in just five minutes shorter than 2016’s ‘Bionic Sad’. Other lengthy reworks from the producer include a 28-minute version of Mari Kvien Brunvoll’s ‘Everywhere You Go’, and a 32-minute edit of DJ Pierre’s ‘What Is House Muzik’.
