Rhythm Section launches "next-gen" mentorship programme

The scheme includes studio time, software and masterclasses from Moxie, Jordan Rakei, Tash LC and Bradley Zero

Rhythm Section has announced a new mentorship programme, Future Proof, aiming to support the next generation of electronic artists.

The scheme includes masterclasses from Rhythm Section favourites Moxie, Jordan Rakei, Tash LC and label honcho Bradley Zero.

The six winners will be given mentoring, studio time and access to equipment, as well as software — including a copy of Ableton Live 11, alongside learning sessions with a Ableton Certified Trainer.

Press photos plus travel expenses will be catered for.

Future Proof is looking for artists from across the UK who have an interest in genres that "encompass the Rhythm Section of dance, deep house, house, techno, jazz and soul."

For DJs willing to apply they must have a good understanding of beatmatching and some experience performing whilst for producers they must have released at least one track — either through a label or by self-releasing.

Those applying must be 18+, currently unsigned, have an interest in events, radio or labels alongside a passion for music, club culture and social justice.

“Mentorship is so important and there's a number of key figures in my journey who opened doors and illuminated paths for me in my career, giving me the confidence, contacts and experience to do things my way," Rhythm Section's founder Bradley Zero told DJ Mag.

"Future Proof is the next step on Rhythm Section's knowledge-sharing journey – allowing us to consolidate our work, help address the imbalances in the scene, demystify the industry and inspire a new generation to be the game-changers, taste-makers and leaders of the future."

Supported by Audiotechnica, Ableton, Pirate, Arts Council and PRS Foundation, Future Proof is "tailored to help prepare them for the future of the music industry".

Earlier this year, Bradley Zero released an online workshop for those wanting to learn how to launch and run a record label.

Via a Tweet Bradley wrote: “Time to make this one public: How to start, run and grow a record Label. Went into forensic detail for 2.5 hours. Not for everyone but invaluable to some.”

The tweet also contained a link to his first video which is a step-by-step breakdown with a PDF available too.

The deadline for applications to Future Proof is on November 21 at 10 AM. Apply here.
