Rave Preservation Project launches directory tool for archival artefacts
The online archive of rave memorabilia features around 40,000 items, though its organiser claims there is a backlog of around 250,000 artefacts waiting to be added
The Rave Preservation Project has launched a new directory tool for its expansive archive of rave artefacts.
The online archive has been running since 2013 and currently has around 40,000 items for users to browse, including flyers, posters, laminates, zines, and other memorabilia documenting the history of rave, underground electronic music and EDM.

In an effort to maintain its archive and become more user-friendly, The Rave Preservation Project has now relaunched its website to display submissions and other archival material, which will be available both online and via platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.
Founders Matthew and Tani Johnson are appealing for donations, both monetary and archival materials, to help The Rave Preservation Project continue its work. The pair have also set up an archive version of the website as an easy-to-view gallery.
"The sheer volume of donations has created a backlog of approximately 250,000 items waiting to be curated and added to our online galleries," says Matthew. "Balancing my 'day job' with the demands of R.P.P. has meant that our website's galleries have not been updated in years, due to a lack of time."

"To transform the Rave Preservation Project into my full-time job, we need a sustainable funding model," he continues.
"People can now also advertise on the homepage of the Rave Preservation Project. Listings for the directory and/or homepage can be bought for an affordable monthly fee for membership, gaining exposure to our site's large, targeted audience."
