Rave in a victorian house in Wales was cancelled due to "anti-social behaviour"

A “secret rave” which was supposed to take place in a historically-listed victorian house in the town of Tredegar in Wales, was thwarted by Gwent’s local council and police force.
After applying for a temporary license to put on a 100 person music event at the charming Bedwellty House’s tea room on Friday, May 9, Gwent police raised concerns that the late-night event would spill into the town and create chaos for the local community.
During the statutory licensing subcommittee where the validity of the event was being discussed, PC Simon Austin said “the event will take place on the bank holiday weekend where antisocial behaviour generally increases.”
Despite the fact that the rave was being backed by the house’s manager, the prevalence of “illegal drugs” which appear at these parties was raised during the hearing and Labour councillor Derrick Bevan argued, “This [Bedwellty House] is the jewel in our crown. I just think it’s the wrong place to have an event like this.”
After rejecting the application, the event’s organizer Dan Newman told Wales Online “I feel this is maybe why a lot of events end up going down the illegal route.” Recently, Wales police have issued a warning regarding illegal raves taking place over this week’s bank holiday and are taking “extra measures” in order to stop them. Ravers… beware!
