Tim Westwood steps down from Capital Xtra show following sexual misconduct allegations

The former BBC Radio 1 DJ has stepped down "until further notice"

DJ Tim Westwood has left his Capital Xtra radio show after being accused of multiple cases of sexual misconduct.

According to The Independent a Global spokesperson has said: “Following the claims that have recently come to light, Tim Westwood has stepped down from his show until further notice.”

The former BBC Radio 1 DJ was accused yesterday of sexual misconduct by several women — a joint investigation by the BBC and The Guardian has found.

Accounts from seven women, who are all Black, dating from 1992- 2017 were shared with many accusing Westwood of abusing his power within the music industry.

Westwood "strenuously" denies the claims.

“In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing,” reads a statement issued on his behalf.
