Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie to play DJ set in East London

The frontman will be joined by Mogwai guitarist Stuart Braithwaite, as they pay tribute to their late tour manager

Bobby Gillespie, the lead singer of Primal Scream and guitarist Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, will be DJing in East London this Sunday (December 11), as part of a tribute event to tour manager Kiko Loiacono.

Taking place at Studio 9294 in Hackney Wick, the event will run from 2:PM to 11:PM, and also features sets from In Light of Aquarius and Douglas Hart of The Jesus & Mary Chain, according to NME.

Braithwaite shared the news that he would be performing in an Instagram post, where he wrote: “Playing some records in London on Sunday in memory of my dear pal [Loiacono]. Please come along.”

Loiacono was the tour manager for a number of a number of acts down the years including Tim Burgess, Shame and The Growlers.

Paying tribute at the time, Primal Scream wrote on their Instagram: “Our friend [Loiacono] died yesterday. He gave his life to rock and roll & left wing politics.

“A beautiful cat. His Kiko Bus was legendary,” they continued. “He criss crossed Europe taking many independent rock bands on adventures they will never forget. He drove [Bo Ningen] on Primals UK tour in 2017 – was great to have his positivity and cheer on the road with us. A true believer – he will be missed by many.”

Braithwaite also paid his respects, who wrote: “Got the awful news that my dear friend [Loiacono] died today. He was a one off. A true believer in music, love and friendship.

“He was a champion for all of his friends and was always the best company,” he continued. “The world is a much duller place without him around. Kiko Forever.”
