Premiere: Quench your thirst with Ivy Lab’s latest halfstepper
The 'Peninsula' EP is available to buy March 17
Sabre, Halogenix and Stray are back as Ivy Lab with their first solo EP since 2015.
Having formed in 2013 hanging out on the experimental fringes of drum n’ bass they became early adopters and pioneers of the halftime sub-genre, producing tracks like ‘Sunday Crunk’.
We named them among our top 10 DJs to watch in 2015 and the trio went onto release a collaborative EP with Alix Perez and the ‘Fortuna’ EP on their 20/20 LDN imprint last year.
All three are respected producers in their own right with a wealth of experience to draw from. So when they come together you know to pay attention.
Their latest effort, the ‘Peninsula’ EP, comes via regular home Critical Recordings and offers up five slices of half-stepping grooves.
We have the pleasure of premiering their track ‘Thirsty’ from the EP, a swaggering monster with skittering beats underpinned by a heaving kick and sprinkled with a sultry vocal. Listen to the track below.
The ‘Peninsula’ EP will be available to buy on March 17. EPs with limited-edition handmade vinyl artwork go on pre-sale on March 14.
