Premiere: Orlando conjures up a cinematic club cut with 'The Smoke Descends'

Forthcoming on Gobstopper Records

It’s been quite the year so far for Mr. Mitch’s Gobstopper Records.

With big releases from the likes of Odeko, Tarquin and most recently Lloyd SB, the label has cultivated a new wave of up-and-coming talent, and cemented its position as a seminal contender on the scene.

Next up, the imprint has tapped Brooklyn-based producer Orlando for a four-tracker titled 'The Tide That Moves Me'. Fusing elements of dancehall, club and futuristic, soul-baring sounds, the cut follows the Gobstopper signature for emotionally-charged constructions.

Much like Mr. Mitch's, Orlando’s productions are rooted in real-world emotion and intricate sound design. “My work explores themes of landscape and environment and a constant longing for the unobtainable,” he explains in the press release.

On the melodic, hazy and warm 'The Smoke Descends', Orlando’s penchant for eerie experiments shines through. A slow burner, it’s an atmospheric track packed with cinematic highs and soft motifs.

‘The Tide That Moves Me’ EP is out July 28 on Gobstopper Records.
