Premiere: Compa and Footsie go to war on 'No Hype'
The Deep Medi star kicks off his new CPA Records
Compa has had a visible presence in the dubstep and bass scene since the age of 21 when the young producer caught the eye of Mala after a debut appearance on Get Darker TV. A number of solid records on Deep Medi Musik and Boka followed in swift succession.
Now Compa's announced a new label, CPA Records, inspired by a number of collaborative tracks he made with MCs while on a Red Bull Music Tour at the tail end of last year. These include hook ups with established names like Jammz and Footsie, as well as rising stars Dave and AJ Tracy.
'No Hype', the first track from the CPA catalogue, features Footsie, one half of Newham Generals, and is a hard-as-nails war dub. Compa's track combines elements of grime and bass, as sinister strings punctuate Footsie's instantly recognisable flow. "On this ting I'm too ready for them / I'm too firm and steady for them / That soundboy just got buried again," raps Footsie over a jagged instrumental.
