Premiere: Be seduced by Voyeur’s epic ‘Nina’

Back in 2013 we called Voyeur a duo to watch. Fast-forward three years and their star in 2016 is still very much shining.

Benson Herbert and Leo Picking made their breakthrough in 2012 with a remix of Bombay Bicycle Club’s ‘How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep’, turning the indie band’s hit into rolling piano house bliss. The remix opened doors for the youngsters, catching the eye of none other than house legend Kerri Chandler who promptly got them on to his MadTech and Madhouse labels.

Soon enough, Voyeur found themselves sharing DJ booths with Masters At Work and Frankie Knuckles, as well as remixing Santigold and Foals.

Now, under the mentorship of Chandler, the duo have focused their efforts to produce a 10-track album for his Kaoz Theory label.

‘I’ showcases their taste for soulful melodies and physical rhythms on tracks like ‘Presence’ and ‘Seamless’, while Chandler collabs with the duo on ‘Long Beach Island’ and ‘Patron Saint’.

But it’s the nine-minute cinematic burner ‘Nina’ that we have the pleasure of bringing you. It’s a track that locks in listeners with hypnotising percussion and continues to evolve at its own pace. It never rushes, but it never takes the foot off the gas.
