Man gets jail time for his "pop-up drug shop" at Glastonbury 2019
The Worthy Farm pop-up was closed before it got going
24-year-old Shaun Davies from Liverpool has been sentenced to 42 months in jail after attempting to set up a 'pop-up drugs shop' at Worthy Farm during the 2019 edition of Glastonbury.
The medley of class A and class B drugs Davies had in his possession included seven bags of MDMA, 0.19g of DMT, 33 tabs of LSD and eight bags of cocaine - one of which contained 18.2g.
Davies pleaded guilty to the charge of to possession of drugs with intent to supply on June 27 - the same day he was caught by detained by event security - and was sentenced on July 24 by the Bristol Crown Court. Judge William Hart condemned his actions and said there was "a grave danger" in selling illicit substances to "that ready market of vulnerable young people."
Mark Linehan, who was tasked with defending Davies, said that his client was £5,000 deep in drug debt, in a "vulnerable state" and had been coerced into creating the pop-up. He told the court that refusal would have resulted in retribution "against him and or his family."
