Police seize $810 million worth of drugs bound for Australia
A total of 17 individuals were arrested
A huge drug raid in the Netherlands has resulted in the seizure of nearly 2 tonnes of MDMA, 136kg of cocaine and 15kg of crystal meth.
The confiscation of the narcotics was a part of a year-long effort to bust drug syndicates operating across Australia, Dubai and the Netherlands.
17 individuals were arrested, including five detained in Dubai. Two brothers and the son of infamous nightlife figure John Ibrahim were also included in the high-profile arrested persons.
The seized drugs had an estimated street value of $810 million and were planned to be smuggled in shipping containers.
AFP assistant commissioner Neil Gaughan cited that this particular raid gives further proof that places like Dubai and UAE are readily working with foreign law enforcement to combat the war on drugs.
