Pev & Hodge

Razor-sharp Bristolian business

Where to start with Peverelist? A key cog in Bristol's bustling and brutal bass mechanism, Tom Ford's involvement in the south west's underground scene is pretty spectacular. Owner of Punch Drunk, a hub for deranged techno crunchers by the likes of Hodge and Bass Clef, he also heads up Livity Sound with Kowton and Asusu where you can find bangers like this.

Hodge is another name you can associate with that oh-so-devastating Bristol sound. As well as appearances on Punch Drunk ('Resolve'/'Prototype Fear' and Pev collab 'Bells'), Jacob Martin's done bits for Berceuse Heroique, Hotline Recordings and, recently, Untold's Hemlock Recordings. You may as well check out this blinding mix he did for us to get a taste of what he's about.

Superb news that they've been in the studio together again then, this time hooking up for the '21 Versions'/'What Your Heart Knows' 12" on Livity.

No surprise that this one's packing serious damage. '21 Versions' is razor-sharp, all twangy keys carrying an appropriate amount of prang, soaked in percussion and drums rumbling and clattering all the way through. Outrageous tune set to destroy soundsystems all over.

'21 Versions'/'What Your Heart Knows' is released on May 11 via Livity Sound
