People Just Do Nothing is being remade for a new series in America
Kurupt FM and People Just Do Nothing are going to America
After solidifying its place as a classic in the hearts of the British public, People Just Do Nothing has been taken up by Amazon, who wish to repackage the series in true American style.
The US version will obviously feature some differences, especially with it being set in Las Vegas rather than Kurupt FM's spiritual home, Brentford.
The new series will replace the UK's pirate radio sounds with, yes you guessed it, EDM. And responsibility for taking the Bafta award-winning mockumentaryBafta award-winning mockumentary Stateside will fall to Mehar Sethi, who has worked on The Cleveland Show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Bojack Horseman, and who will write and executive produce the US version.
The US PJDN will be tied to the UK original and might bare some similarities as the main stars of the original show, Asim Chaudhry, Allan Mustafa, Steve Stamp and Hugo Chegwin, will all aid in the production of the new series.
It's notoriously hard to depict dance music well on TV, so here's hoping this comes out better than Netflix's recent Ibiza film.
