Peggy Gou's label announces 'Gudu & Friends Vol. 2' compilation

Peggy Gou's Gudu label has announced its forthcoming second edition of its V/A compilation series, this week unveiling 'Gudu & Friends Vol. 2'.

Set for release on May 2 both digitally and through a limited edition cassette, the record features label newcomers Alinka, Gina Breeze, Jordan Nocturne featuring Coco Cole, Minju and Nyra plus Hiver, Mogwaa (pictured), Dukwa and Matisa.

Mogwaa's track 'Arctica' is available now, with the full V/A also available for pre-order.

"I’m really excited to be joining the Gudu family!" Alinka tells Mixmag. "I’ve been a fan of Peggy and the label since the start, so it’s been a pleasure creating music for this, and I'm very happy to be part of it.

"‘Night Train’ is very special to me in particular because, as the name suggests, I started writing it on the sleeper train coming home from playing in Kyiv at K41 last fall. It was my first time back at the club and Kyiv since Russia’s full-scale invasion, so it was very significant and emotional for me, and this track channeled all the energy of my favourite dancefloor.”

Each compilation boasts artwork related to the lunar new year, with this second instalment welcoming illustrator Jin Young Choi - who also illustrates the Gudu mix series - reflecting the year of the dragon. And, elsewhere, Gudu has just launched club-focused single series Club Gudu with a batch of releases scheduled for the forthcoming year.
