Overmono unveil highly-anticipated track ‘Gem Lingo (ovr now)’

The track, which features singer-songwriter Ruthven, was first played by the duo on The Lot Radio alongside Fred Again and Lil Yachty

Overmono have released a new single, ‘Gem Lingo (ovr now)’.

Landing on XL Recordings yesterday (July 17), the track was first teased on the duo’s takeover of The Lot Radio earlier this year, alongside Fred Again and Lil Yachty — with whom the pair also collaborated for recent single ‘Stayinit’.

The single features South London-based singer-songwriter and Paul Institute founder Ruthven, who provides a soulful vocal hook for the garage-influenced track.

'Gem Lingo' has received plenty of attention since being played on the same show, with YouTube and Soundcloud rips of the track garnering over 300,000 plays — making its official debut on BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record with Jack Saunders yesterday.

'Gem Lingo’ follows from the duo’s release of their groundbreaking remix of the 2002 The Streets track ‘Turn the Page’, which also dropped via XL Recordings in April earlier this year, gaining widespread acclaim.

Fans may be able to catch the new track during Overmono's upcoming performances at Reading and Leeds festivals, Boardmasters, Spain and Portugal’s Kalorama and Flow festival in Finland, amongst a number of others.
