NieuwLicht Festival to launch in Amsterdam

A day of first-rate music and culture, all in aid of charity

NieuwLicht Festival is a brand new festival taking place on April 9 in the centre of Amsterdam. NieuwLicht combines music, live concerts and a beautiful location, and it's all for a good cause.

Coyu, Audiofly, Beckers (D-Nox & Beckers), Victor Ruiz and Pig&Dan are among the names lined-up to appear. There’s also a strong presence of local talent on offer; Cinnaman of the Dutch capital’s revered Rush Hour crew will bring his thrilling eclecticism to the party. Olivier Weiter will be on hand to hypnotise with a journey through melodic techno, and rising star Mirella Kroes will showcase her diverse taste and talents. Further Dutch acts set to perform include Daniel Sanchez, Nuno Dos Santos, Apotheque and Beesmunt Soundsystem.

Beyond the electronic music, there’s a host of good times to be had. An open-air concert, the cutting-edge art on display, vintage shopping and the tasty food and drink outlets onsite.

The overall experience will also be enhanced by the stunning setting of the renovated Westergasterrein venue. See above for images of the industrial halls that are perfectly suited for a dance festival, while those in need of a break from the dancefloor can enjoy the outside area, with the aesthetically pleasing red-brick exterior and adjacent canal providing that authentic Amsterdam experience.

NieuwLicht Festival is put on in aid of charity, with a new cause selected each year. In 2016 all profits are being invested to build a school in Guatemala, meaning you can indulge in all this hedonism with a clear conscience of who is profiting from the event.
