Nicholas Daley launches ‘Return to Slygo’ exhibition at NOW Gallery

Jamaican-Scottish multimedia artist and fashion designer Nicholas Daley is bringing a new exhibition, ‘Return to Slygo’, to Greenwich Peninsula’s NOW Gallery this month.

Opening on May 17, the exhibition will be fully immersive to celebrate the designer’s passion for music and fashion in a multi-sensory installation.

Combining his core ethos - community, culture and craftsmanship - while taking a look into his musical roots, Daley’s exhibition will build a space for reflection and unity. The gallery will be free to visit until July 4.

The backdrop of the exhibition will boast a ‘mood board of cultures’, while the window display showcases a series of illustrative vinyls designed by Daley and fellow artist Gaurab Thalki to immerse the audience in a cross-cultured world.

Curator at NOW Gallery, Jemima Burrill, said: “Nicholas Daley is giving us the exhibition we need right now. ‘Return To Slygo’ celebrates community and diversity but also flags up the brilliance and importance of UK design and manufacture. Nicholas Daley brings music and art into the mix when we need a shot of light-hearted hedonism and an exploration of what is good in the world, at this time.”

Nabihah Iqbal was a key curator on the playlist, throwing together sound system and reggae tracks reminiscent of carnival.

‘Return to Slygo’ aims to give insight into Daley’s life with key archive imagery, family photos and his seminal reggae club t-shirts on display.
