New single from posthumous SOPHIE album out now, ‘Berlin Nightmare’

The track features Athens-based musician and vocalist Evita Manji

The second single to be released from SOPHIE’s posthumous album is out now via Future Classic and Transgressive, ‘Berlin Nightmare’.

The track, which features Athens-based DJ, producer, and vocalist Evita Manji is set to appear on the eponymous record, titled ‘SOPHIE’, out on September 27.

‘Berlin Nightmare’ is a follow-up to the June-released single ‘Reason Why’ featuring Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, this time taking a darker approach to SOPHIE’s usual club stylings. Listen below.

The new track was revealed yesterday (July 23) by a social media account behind the ‘SOPHIE’ album campaign, MSMSMSM FOREVER, which previously teased cryptic clues ahead of the record’s release.

“Berlin Nightmare feat. Evita Manji out now,” it stated alongside the single’s artwork. Fans suspect that the new track first debuted during SOPHIE’s 2019 Unsound Festival performance.

'SOPHIE' marks the second full-length album from the Scottish dance music pioneer, and the first following her tragic death in 2021.

In a press statement released last month, SOPHIE’s family confirmed that the record had been “close to completion” before her death, and has since been “lovingly finalised” by friends and family of the late producer.

“It feels only right to share with the world the music she hoped to release, in the belief that we can all connect with her in this, the form she loved most,” her family wrote.

After her death in 2021, SOPHIE's partner, Evita Manji, spoke of her tragic passing. “Today I lost my everything," they wrote. "I can feel your energy everywhere around and inside me, you’re guiding me through this and calm me down like you would always do.”
