New record shop called 2 Bridges opens in NYC
The shop hopes to fill the void in Downtown New York
A new record shop called 2 Bridges has just opened in NYC, offering a new outlet to showcase a wide variety of music, art and literature.
The arrival of 2 Bridges comes at an interesting time for the music scene in NYC as a number of shops have had to permanently close in 2016, notably the popular shops of Other Music, Rebel Rebel and Israel’s Record Shop. 2 Bridges now could help fill a void in the community and the shop’s owner is very much aware of this.
Simon Gabriel Greenberg, founder of 2 Bridges, told RA about his vision for the shop: “I've had the idea to do a shop with new leftfield and electronic music for a while now. Especially after Other Music closed, I felt like there was a huge hole in Downtown New York for a place to discover and interact with forward-thinking new music… So I decided to do this shop as a way of providing that, while also contextualizing it a bit in terms of other creative things that are happening in art, theory or science.”
Not just a home for forward thinking music, 2 Bridges also offers an exhibition space for select performance and art shows.
2 Bridges is now officially open, located under the Manhattan Bridge in Chinatown at the multi-level market of the New York Mart Mall. Find out more via their website here.
