New NYC nightclub Schimanski is going to replace Verboten

See the line-up for the rumoured Schimanski launch event

Posters have begun to surface on the streets of Brooklyn indicating that a new club called Schimanski is set to open very soon. Rumours are rapidly transforming into facts about the space for the new venue, which will be at the same location that housed the popular Verboten nightclub.

The building at 54 N 11th St. that used to be home to Verboten has been empty since the state seized the property in March 2016, due to the previous owners failing to pay $360,000 worth of sales tax.

News of the space reopening is particularly exciting, as news circulated earlier this year about a famed New York City nightlife icon purchasing the lease in July. The general public has been eagerly awaiting more information regarding what the new owner has planned.

Schimanski, which is named after a fictional character from a 1981 German crime series, has posters across Brooklyn promising the delivery of what many had hoped for: lineups featuring the top players in the underground dance music scene. The club’s website hints at a November 2016 launch, but the exact dates are still unknown.

View Schimanski’s poster below, which includes the lineup for the Fall 2016 season, featuring Radio Slave, wAFF, Breakbot, Edu Imbernon, Lauren Lane, Eli & Fur, Tiger & Woods, Mat.Joe, Jon Charnis, Monoloc, Jacques Renault, Delta Functionen, Volvox, Paul Raffaelle, Sascha Dive and Veronica Vasicka.
