Unconfirmed whisperings about the future of Brooklyn's Verboten began to circulate a few days ago and finally, Mixmag has received the first official statement from rumoured purchaser Eddie Dean. The owner of Pacha and staple of the NYC nightlife scene has confirmed his winning bid for Verboten.

Earlier this year, unfortunate news of the Brooklyn venue closing down caused immediate buzz in the city's scene. Mr Dean put in the winning bid of $1.2 million for the club's lease located on North 11th Street and Wythe Avenue.

Eddie Dean is most known for bringing electronic music to NYC nightlife with his opening of Pacha NYC in 2005 and founding the event and promotional brand RPM Presents. The nightlife expert's new project will be operated with Director Andrew Inomata, who has previously worked with Dean.

His team cites that future prospects of Verboten's space include carefully curated events highlighting music, arts, food and community life, concentrating on nurturing a creative hub and Brooklyn culture. The venue will be an 'incubator for up and coming talent for all genres of music'.

Dean explains the importance of returning to Brooklyn after taking over the Manhattan club scene: "I started my nightlife career in Brooklyn so it’s only fitting that I return here now. We are excited to take over the North 11th space in this prime location and fully put our nightlife expertise into action.”

Best of luck to Eddie and his team.
