New billboard in Detroit reminds the public about the birthplace of techno
With the city's leading music festival fast approaching
Drivers in Detroit will be reminded they’re entering a historical city thanks to a new billboard.
The not so subtle billboard reads “DETROIT IS THE BIRTHPLACE OF TECHNO MUSIC.” And is placed atop the Russell Industrial Centre just off the I-75.
The previous billboard had been an advertisement for Detroit's electronic music festival Movement, with the festival’s logo plastered across the ad space spanning almost an entire building. The billboard has been home to the Movement ad for the entire year, but now this new bold message is in its place.
Movement takes place annually during Memorial Day weekend and the 2018 edition boasts a lineup featuring Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, Nastia, Tiga, Mija, Helena Hauff, Dubfire, Eats Everything, Aurora Halal, Ellen Alien, The Martinez Brother, Loco Dice, Claude Vonstroke and Wu-Tang Clan, among others.
With the event now only a month and a half away, the event organisers at Paxahau seemed to think it was the right time to freshen up their marketing by bombarding drivers with a touch of Detroit history. Full support from Mixmag!
