New app connects promoters and events to DJs

It’s the AirBnb of DJing

The prospect of getting a gig or booking a DJ are now at your fingertips with the app AGNT.

The brainchild of promoter Viet Nguyen and DJ and product specialist Mike Henderson aims to cut out out the middleman and connect smaller artists lacking representation directly with promoters.

In an interview with DJ Tech Tools, Viet said artists were complaining about promoters consistently booking the same acts and receiving no help in collecting money for shows.

The app allows the registered user to set up a DJ profile, an event host profile or both, and customise it by genre of music (ranging from country to techno), travel radius, tech rider, expected fee and embed promotional links to mixes or songs.

A promoter can then use the app to search these criteria for their ‘perfect DJ’.

AGNT splits the payment 50-50 with half the fee paid to the artist once the booking is confirmed and the rest the next business day.

The app also allows DJs to pitch their services to event hosts who leave an ‘open spot’ when registering an event.

In the two months since it’s release, there are apparently around 25-30 bookings a week through AGNT with festivals also having booked artists through the app.

“It’s really just another way of being found or being heard,” Viet said.
