New 2,000-capacity venue from team behind Mint Club to open in Leeds
Named Mint XL, the venue is set to open from September with a “strict” no-photo policy
A brand new 2,000-capacity venue is landing later this year in Leeds from the team behind the city’s beloved Mint Club, which shuttered in 2018.
The new space, named Mint XL, will open its doors from September, promising to usher in the “next evolution” for the Mint brand after three decades operating in Leeds.
Mint XL will feature multiple rooms with a capacity of 2,000, and will operate with a “strict” no-phone policy on its dancefloors to “keep the focus on the music”, banning photos and videos.

The main rooms will feature Funktion-One Vero soundsystems with a promise of bringing “high-spec” production throughout the venue, making it the “most ambitious” project from the Mint team to date.
The venue will reportedly host a range of events with a focus on dance music, while its programming will lean into extended sets and longer live performances.
“Mint XL is the next chapter for the brand,” says venue owner Shane Graham. “From Mint Club through to Mint Festival, we’ve spent nearly two decades building something special in Leeds, and this is a natural progression of that journey.”

It follows numerous projects from the Mint team, including its flagship Mint Club which closed in 2018 after 20 years due to developments, and its 750-capacity space Mint Warehouse which opened in 2012 close to Leeds’ train station.
While it’s not yet clear where Mint XL will open in Leeds, owners said the space is expected to launch from September onwards with “multi-bill line-ups at a much bigger scale”.
