Netflix confirms Stranger Things final season for 2024
Series five of the beloved show will reach its epic conclusion in two years time
Netflix has confirmed the final season of its beloved TV show Stranger Things, due for release in 2024.
The fifth and final season will be the ‘epic conclusion’ to the show, according to a new flyer posted by a Stranger Things update account on Twitter on Monday.
Stranger Things’ penultimate season four was released across two parts in May and July, which featured some mind-blowing plot twists and startling returns. The final two episodes were released on July 1 bringing the season to a close.

Speculation over the last season is currently whirring online, including the fate of some of the show’s favourite characters, and the future of Hawkins.
The last season is thought to be filmed next year, according to actor David Harbour who plays Jim Hopper in the Netflix show. Speaking to GQ Magazine, Harbour said: “I think we’ll [shoot] next year.
“They’re finishing writing it this year, and they need to prep and stuff, so hopefully it’ll be this year. But I think that’s the plan. So it’d probably come out mid-2024, based on our track record.”
Elsewhere, the show’s directors have spoken about the setting for season five and said that the finale will only take place in Hawkins. “We wanna go back to a lot of the things we did in season one,” Matt Duffer told Entertainment Weekly.

“A lot of the original groupings and pairings that we had in season one – there’s something nice about coming full circle,” he added.
The creators have also hinted to a spinoff series in an interview with Variety, revealing that they have an idea that they’re “super excited about”.
“We haven’t told anyone the idea yet, much less written it. We think everyone — including Netflix — will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it’s very, very different,” they said.
“But somehow Finn Wolfhard — who is one crazy smart kid — correctly guessed what it was going to be about. But aside from Finn, no one else knows!”
