Nene H and Poly Chain are announced as the first release on new Kyiv-based label Standard Deviation

The label is an offshoot of Kyiv club ∄

Kyiv-based label Standard Deviation is launching with a new split EP from Nene H (pictured) and Poly Chain. It will be released on September 25.

Standard Deviation is the latest project to come from Kyiv club ∄. It’s name is a mathematical symbol meaning ‘there does not exist’, and the club itself is a safer space for non-binary and gender non-conforming people in Kyiv.

The aim of the new label is to foster a creative exchange in music, art and writing between Ukraine and the rest of the world. Hence the collaboration between Berlin-Copenhagen-based Nene H and Kyiv’s own Poly Chain.

Their EP, entitled simply ‘Standard Deviation’, is a conversation between the two artists, between their two varying styles of techno: Nene H’s side of the EP is pummelling, straight techno; Poly Chain veers more towards hardcore high-tempo influences.
