My Nu Leng announce MNL. alias

Renowned representatives of UK rave culture My Nu Leng have announced that, 12 years after their first release, they will begin making music as MNL. in a "new chapter" for Tommy Jackson and Jammo Irving.

"Our recent musical output has felt like its own home, away from the aggy, grittiness of My Nu Leng," the UK electronic duo revealed on Instagram.

"MNL. will allow us to explore a different sound that we've been working on, delving into more diverse and experimental electronic vibes."

These new sounds that MNL. are experimenting with will be present in their forthcoming 'For The Longest Time' EP on Shall Not Fade, which is set to release in January 2024. The first single, 'Somerset Drift', pairs elements of techno, garage and breaks with chopped vocals to create a distinctly UK underground sound.

'So True', which came out on December 1 as the second single, "has been a real crowd pleaser in the clubs and we're so happy for it to be finally out," the duo revealed to Mixmag.

The announcement comes after the end of the duo's 10 years of My Nu Leng UK tour which saw them play up and down the country at venues such as Bristol's Lakota, Liverpool-based Meraki and Wire Club in Leeds.

During their stint as My Nu Leng, Jackson and Irving played across the globe at some of the world's biggest stages, including performances at some of the world's biggest stages such as Glastonbury festival.

My Nu Leng drew together influences from all corners of the UK underground, taking inspirations from genres like garage, jungle, drum 'n' bass, breaks and dubstep to create a truly original sound.

This new creative direction will act as breath of fresh air in their journey and will allow them to express themselves without any restrictions or pigeonholing.

"We've always liekd playing a huge range of dance music in our sets," said Jackson and Irving, "but now more than ever feel very excited about the new music coming out of the studio. Our recent studio sessions have culminated in a vast collection of tunes, ready to be released in 2024 along with some exciting collaborations."

While the duo are concentrated on their sonic experimentation with the new alias, the door has not closed on My Nu Leng with shows still lined up and their enthusiasm for drum 'n' bass and other walks of bass music still undying.
