MUTEK delays its Mexico City edition after earthquake devastation
The festival is now set to take place later this year in November
Originally set to take place between October 11-15, MUTEK Mexico has rescheduled the 14th edition of the festival for November 22-26 following the tragic earthquake that took place in Central Mexico on September 19.
Following the disaster, festival organizers put promotion on hold and help rescue efforts by assisting with the setup of a collection center at the Universidad de la Comunicación in Mexico City’s La Roma neighborhood.
After considering and assessing their options, organizers postponed the festival to carefully check the safety of the venues. Organizers are currently reconfirming artists and will be announcing all changes and notices accordingly.
"We would like to underline the importance of adding to the efforts of reconstruction, whether donating in goods or cash," MUTEK Mexico stated on their Facebook page. "We invite you to contribute to the collection centers announced on our social media. We will also be sharing different initiatives from our media partners and collaborators... Our hearts and thoughts remain with everyone who has been affected."
