MoMA PS1 and Other Music announce new festival and label market in NYC
A spotlight on local and international music communities
MoMA PS1 is linking with Other Music to host a record label market and music festival in 2017.
The announcement of these two institutions coming together is exciting for many members of the music community, especially after Other Music was forced to permanently close shop in May 2016 due to substantial rent hikes sweeping NYC.
Come Together: Music Festival and Label Market will feature live performances, films, workshops, and panel discussions focusing on local and international music communities. A label fair will also take place, allowing visitors to explore a variety of cutting edge music outlets.
As stated via Come Together’s event page, the organizers outlined the distinct vision behind this new gathering: “While the very fabric of music culture has been stretched — maybe shredded — by fast-changing digital platforms, the central and essential role that communities play in both the creation and consumption of cutting-edge sounds remains unchanged… With Come Together, Other Music and MoMA PS1 hope to recast the fading record store experience for the modern era.”
A lineup of artists has yet to be revealed, but MoMA PS1 and Other Music promise to curate a roster consisting of innovative and respected local and international talent.
Come Together: Music Festival and Label Market is scheduled to take place March 26th, 2017 from 12pm - 6pm. Find out more here
