Mirko Loko - 7/10

Swiss techno producer Mirko Loko may still be relatively unknown, but on his second LP in six years he demonstrates a dizzying command of light and shade and some cool vocal curveballs, thanks in part to the incredible work of pianist Francesco Tristano and JAW from dOP. There's an excellent Carl Craig remix of the breakout single 'Kolor' doing the rounds (his second, after 'Love Harmonic' back in 2010) which, situated at the heart of the album, should help power this into higher states of consciousness. Its not hard to see why C2 is a fan: from the bubbling 'Get Down' to the none-more-Cadenza 'Venus' and the quirky 'U Special' with JAW from dOP, it all hangs together beautifully.
