Liverpool's Melodic Distraction has launched its own venue

Melodic Distraction, the Liverpool based radio station, has opened a venue.

The new space on Constance Street, Islington repurposes shipping containers, fitted with a studio, coffee shop and a bar for visitors to enjoy, with profits going back into the station, those presenting and Liverpool’s musical scene.

The station was originally located in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, but they were forced to relocate in October last year. A Kickstarter they started to find a new location was a huge success, pulling in £36,000 and allowing the radio station to find a new home.

Speaking about the new location, director James Zaremba said:

"This space is a product of Liverpool's strong sense of grassroots community spirit, A stark contrast to the top-down, multi-million-pound flat building approach that's seen the city recently stripped of its UNESCO World Heritage site status."

The studio is located at the top of the shipping container, with a coffee shop below by day and a bar by night. Live performances and gigs will also take place in the space, which will also act as a community hub for Liverpool’s musicians. Art exhibitions, record fairs and other events will also take place.
