Melbourne music venue Misfits to close after just two years

Misfits, the Melbourne music venue and bar hosting a range of DJ nights and live shows, has announced its closure after just two years.

While no firm closing date has been set at the time of writing, Misfits shared the news on Instagram over the weekend, saying that the "countdown has officially begun" to its closure.

"After a lot of good nights, loud nights, questionable decisions and some genuinely magic moments, Misfits will soon be closing its doors," the team behind the venue said.

They thanked everyone who has supported the venue since its launch in March 2024, when it first debuted on Chambers St in Footscray.

"To everyone who’s played a show, DJ’d, poured a drink, worked behind the bar, put on an event, or simply wandered in and made this place feel alive, thank you," they said alongside a series of photos from Misfits events over the years. 

"Misfits has always been more than four walls. It’s been a home for artists, weirdos, regulars, first dates, last drinks and communities that found each other somewhere on a dancefloor."

They concluded by letting fans know that they’re "not disappearing just yet", with a run of parties still yet to come. "Check out the gig guide and come help us give Misfits the send-off it deserves," they said.

In its short two-year tenure, Misfits has welcomed both local and international artists, including the likes of Plastician, Doc Scott, Jael, Arthi, Denham Audio and many more.
