Marquis Hawkes

With strong vocals and a chugging groove, this one packs a punch

It's been a long time coming but now elusive producer Marquis Hawkes is in the public eye and ready to drop his debut album via Houndstooth. Back in April last year we premiered 'Sweet' and that turned out to be one of the tracks of the summer. Naturally, we've got high hopes for the long player.

'Social Housing' will contain 12 unreleased jams and, according to Hawkes, "is named as such, because it's the environment I live in, the first thing I see every day when I walk out of my front door, and in effect, influences aspects of my life, including my music."

After a string of amazing 12" releases via Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Clone and Aus Music, we're super excited to see what the selector will be showcasing later this month.

Now, though, we have the pleasure of premiering one of the standout tracks on the album and it features the vocals of house legend 'Jocelyn Brown'. 'I'm So Glad' features a chugging groove and mutant riffs that will no doubt work wonders in the club. We're really feeling this but that's nothing new, Marquis Hawkes is a fucking don.

Social Housing will be released on June 10 via Houndstooth, preorder here, Marquis plays at Fabric in Room 1 tomorrow night, tickets here
