Manchester club Amber’s unveils Room Two redesign with new soundsystem

The venue now flaunts the UK’s first custom NNNN soundsystem

Manchester nightclub Amber’s, which first opened up on Oxford Road in December last year, has unveiled a brand new look for its second room.

Room Two has been redesigned with an upgraded lighting system, bespoke acoustic sound treatment, and a brand new soundsystem courtesy of Norway’s NNNN & OJAS.

A relaunch party will take place on Saturday, August 2, with a line-up yet to be announced – though the club teased a night of “house, techno and groove” with tickets available for just £5.

Room Two now features the UK’s first custom designed NNNN soundsystem, following suit of venues like New York’s Public Records and Bangkok’s Siwilai Radical Club.

Speaking on the new system, Amber’s Director Jeremy Abbott explained: “When we opened Amber’s last December, we always said that world-class sound was non-negotiable and after visiting Norway to hear the NNNN system in-person, we knew it was meant for the club.

“We can’t wait for people to see, hear and feel the NNNN system in Room Two. As a venue we strive to evolve and grow with every season and this is another step forward in that process.”

Amber’s first opened last year in central Manchester, comprising a 650-capacity main room and a 350-capacity Room Two. The venue operates with a no-phone policy on its dancefloors.

“We know that once people hear the system, there’s an instant connection,” says NNNN CEO Torkel Mellingen. “The two ceiling-mounted Amber's custom-colour speakers at the front of the club are ON-MI, part of the ON series.”

He continued: “This series is a collaboration between OJAS (Devon Turnbull) and NNNN, combining American heritage with Scandinavian design. The ON-MI system reaches down to 30Hz, and the OJAS multicell horn handles the high frequencies, covering everything needed and more across the full frequency range.”
