London drum 'n' bass collective Rupture is running workshops for women and non-binary DJs

London collective Rupture has announced the launch of EQ50, a selection of workshops encouraging women and non-binary people to get involved in the drum 'n' bass community.

“Drum 'n' bass is typically monopolised by men and we’d like to take steps in shifting that paradigm,” said EQ50 founder, Mantra. “The aim of the event is to have a space where women can get together, share ideas and network.”

The launch event will take place between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday December 1 at London’s brand new Five Miles in Seven Sisters.

A range of activities will available on the day, from production with The Untouchables & Medika, events promotion with Mantra and Djinn, and a DJ seminar with Metalheadz legends Storm & Flight, who will also close the event with a b2b DJ set.

Honing focus on practical advice and inspiration, EQ50 will also give ambitious producers the opportunity to submit a track for constructive feedback from the likes of Sweetpea, Alley Cat and Djinn.

“Maybe some seeds of inspiration will be planted and in a few years time we’ll have more women in positions of authority within the scene,” Mantra said. “The more women in positions of power, the more the genre will attract women. Better diversity = better raves!”
