Liam Gallagher: "I'm not arsed about fucking dance music"

The former Oasis frontman shares how he really feels

Musician and songwriter Liam Gallagher is about to release his debut album as a solo artist, but before the material drops he’s doing a bit of his classic bashing and says he doesn’t care much for dance music, or anything else for that matter.

In an interview with Noisey, the Oasis frontman lets loose on a plethora of topics. On the subject of music, Liam reveals he’s not interested in anything new these days.

“I'm not arsed about fuckin' dance music and reggae. Well, reggae's alright. But there's too many so-called rock'n'roll bands in England getting away with fuckin' murder. They should be ashamed of the shit the put out. They need fuckin' shooting.”

Liam then elaborates on the subject, touching on how dance music acts or bands use the guitar as somewhat of a gimmick.

“They've got one foot in the fuckin' dance world and one foot in the fuckin' guitar world and they're just seeing which one fuckin' bites. They're there with their fuckin' keyboards and whistles and shit. If you're going to do ‘guitar music’ you have to put a fuckin' guitar on a record. Put the fucker in. Stop wearing it like it's a fuckin' necklace.”

To be fair, Liam says “everything's fuckin' shit”, so it’s not easy to tell what he supports or enjoys. Does he even love his own debut solo album? Only time will tell.

We might have known he'd hate dance music seeing as his brother Noel, who gets the snarky Liam treatment on a regular basis, thinks Defected Records are "fucking amazing" and had his mind blown by acid house.

Liam isn’t the only artist and tastemaker not excited about today’s dance music or EDM, despite its increasing popularity and infiltration into pop music. Diplo recently said DJ culture is “cheesy”, “corny”, and “embarrassing”, while Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, who once supported EDM with a stage at his festival that was named after him, said he would “vomit it out of my nostrils”.
