Kid Cudi opens up about depression

The rapper has checked himself into rehab

Discussion about mental illness among performers is not a new phenomenon, but the commonality doesn't make a new reveal any less shocking.

Most recently, rapper Kid Cudi shared a revealing post about his own depression and suicidal urges, which have caused him to check himself into a rehab facility.

"I am not at peace. I haven't been since you've known me," he stated to his followers in the post. "If I didn't come here, I would've done something to myself. I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions everyday of my life."

"My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I can't make new friends because of it. I don't trust anyone because of it and I'm tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace. I deserve to be happy and smiling. Why not me? I guess I give so much of myself to others I forgot that I need to show myself some love too."

He finished his post by pointing to his label Republic and manager Dennis Cummings for further updates about his releases and promised that his album is still on the way.

Kid Cudi, born Scott Mescudi, mentioned that he aims to be out of rehab in time for his scheduled performance at Complexcon, which is set to take place November 5 and 6 in Southern California.
