Juba releases ‘The Assurance Compilation' celebrating women and non-binary artists

All artists featured hail from the Global South

Berlin-based DJ and producer Juba announces the next addition to her Assurance project, releasing a 10-track compilation from women and non-binary artists around the world.

Featuring ten artists spanning the Global South, ‘The Assurance Compilation’ aims to celebrate and spotlight talent to create a ‘global dancefloor experience’. The compilation is out today, April 1.

Juba’s Assurance project began in 2020 with a documentary film exploring the experiences of female DJs and producers in Nigeria. The project later expanded into a podcast series under the same name.

The Assurance Podcast landed in six parts last March where Juba spoke to more artists from the Global South about the obstacles that they face both on and off the dancefloor.

Juba’s latest project compiles tracks from artists from the likes of Brazil’s vogue influenced Badsista, who adds ‘Linda Vermelha’, and Pacific Island-born Samara Alofa who celebrates their indigenous heritage with ‘Laid Out’.

Kenya’s Makossiri also contributed to 'The Assurance Compilation' with the backbreaking 160+ BPM track ‘Hisia ft Air Conditioner’. “One of the best ways to close the gender gap in the music industry is by having more female representation,” Makossiri told Mixmag.

“I’m inspired by women taking up space in the music industry in all its different forms and it's such an honour being a part of a compilation that seeks to celebrate and represent female producers.”
