Juan Atkins and Orlando Voorn collaborate on new ‘Mind Merge’ album
Intricately woven techno from two of the scene's pioneers
Two techno titans in Juan Atkins and Orlando Voorn, under his Frequency alias, have announced a collaborative album set to be released on the Berlin based Out-er label.
The label describes the collection of new material as representing the nucleus of both artists’ distinct sound profiles: “‘Mind Merge LP’ is a beautiful quintessence of Detroit electro, funk and techno, partially blending with contemporary electronic contaminations”.
The two long-time friends began sharing music in the ‘80s and released a handful of collaborations over the years, but a full-length album had yet to come to fruition until now. The forthcoming album will arrive 25 years after their first EP together on Lower East Side Records in 1992.
Frequency vs Atkins’ ‘Mind Merge’ album is set for release on March 6.
