Joy Orbison drops latest track, ‘pinky ring’

"Inspired in part by wanting to have new music for my club night”

Joy Orbison has shared his latest track since 2021’s ‘still slipping vol. 1’, titled ‘pinky ring’.

The producer dropped the surprise release today, March 17, adding that the track was the first he made in the studio after the release of his second studio album.

“Some of you may recognise this one, especially if you caught me at any of my west coast US shows last week,” Joy Orbison posted on Instagram earlier today.

“One of the first bits of music I made in the studio after ‘still sipping’, inspired in part by wanting to have new music for my club night but mostly by my lady dragging me to d’n’b parties again,” he joked.

The track falls alongside ‘red velve 7’ released toward the end of last year. The B-side also features the same artwork, a photo of the producer’s nan who “ran a music-themed pub in west London”.

Orbison also added that he has a lot of “unreleased” work that he’s currently sitting on, and that he’s “just getting started” in putting it out.

At the beginning of the year, the producer revealed that he was starting his own club night in London in which tickets go for free. Just For You takes place monthly at a bar in the West End.

“On that note, thank you to everyone who’s made it down to any event I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of recently. There are few better feelings than playing your new one in the club and it not going down like a lead balloon,” he added on Instagram alongside a snippet of ‘pinky ring’.

The latest track is out now, with vinyl releases coming soon. Listen below and buy it here.
