Jamie xx and Honey Dijon join forces on new track, ‘Baddy On The Floor’

The single was first teased three years ago during Jamie xx’s set at All Points East

A brand new collaborative single between Jamie xx and Honey Dijon has landed via Young, ‘Baddy On The Floor’.

The track first made an appearance during Jamie xx’s headline set at All Points East in 2021, and was put together over video calls made between the producers during the pandemic.

After more than three years in the works, ‘Baddy On The Floor’ received its official release yesterday (April 15) on Young, with a premiere from Radio 1 presenter Jack Saunders.

During an interview with the BBC presenter, Jamie xx confirmed that a new solo album is on the way this year, his first since 2015’s ‘In Colour’.

“‘Baddy On The Floor’ is out now,” he announced on Instagram yesterday. “Thank you to Honey Dijon for the inspiration. This is the first of much more to come…”

As long-time friends, Jamie xx and Honey Dijon have called on each other to perform side-by-side at festivals including The xx’s Night + Day festival in Bilbao in 2018, and his one-off specially curated event at The Warehouse Project in 2021.

The single lands just days after they appeared separately on Coachella’s Quasar stage. Honey Dijon performed an extended back-to-back set alongside Green Velvet, an artist she claims “inspires me musically”.

The new track follows a string of singles from Jamie xx over the past few years, including ‘idontknow’, ‘Let’s Do It Again’, and the January-released single ‘It’s So Good’.

Earlier this year, Romy confirmed that The xx are back in the studio working on their next new album some seven years after the release of their last studio record, ‘I See You’.
