The campaign is urging tourists to postpone planned holidays to Ibiza rather than cancelling them. It is calling on local businesses to stay open longer into the year and organise post-summer event attractions.

A number of hotels and resorts have signed up, allowing people to change reservations made for spring to autumn dates free of charge.

Promotional material for the campaign on Facebook notes: “Ibiza is an island to enjoy, have fun and relax. Since this is not likely to happen this Spring, we’ve decided to move it to Autumn.”

The page’s description notes “now is the time to be together and make Ibiza the preferred destination to celebrate life.”

Events that have confirmed new Autumn dates include the Ibiza Marathon and Ibiza Swing Fun Fest, which were initially scheduled for April and are now taking place in October.

According the figures from El Mundo, summer tourism is worth around €770 million to Ibiza and account for 35 per cent of jobs on the island. The #moveyourspring campaign is attempting to lessen the economic impact the coronavirus outbreak and consequent reduced tourism could have on Ibiza.
