Housemeister - 8/10

We're used to the abrasive, wall-shaking beats of Germany's Housemeister so when he called his new EP "different and softer" with "more flow, more feelings, less jack", we were intrigued.

The title track on the 'Downgrade' EP is uplifting, with warm pads and a subtle drive in the first half before more groove and bigger kicks come thrashing in.

'Repeater' is cool too, but it's the trippy, unnerving '4th Dimension' that seals the deal for us. Its gurgling synths sound like they're being regurgitated, while fierce clicks and zippy percussion make it a killer cut.
