HAAi releases new track 'Always Ascending' ahead of DJ-Kicks mix

The new track is a collaboration between the Aussie artist, Jon Hopkins and Kam-Bu

HAAi has announced a brand new single, made with electronic music royalty Jon Hopkins and South London-based artist Kam-Bu, titled 'Always Ascending'.

Following on from 'SHiNE' and 'ZIGGY', the new single is the latest and last release before her DJ-Kicks mix comes out this Friday, November 4.

'Always Ascending' is not the first time HAAi has collaborated with Jon Hopkins or Kam-Bu, although it is the first time the trio have worked on a song together. The former worked with the HAAi on the title track of her recent album, 'Baby We're Ascending', while Kam-Bu's recent single 'LIVE-O' was subject to a HAAi remix earlier this year.

Kam-Bu describes the lyrics of 'Always Ascending' as "revolv[ing] around themes of love, trust, and surrender."

"It encourages embracing imperfections and speaking kindly to yourself. My aim was to explore the importance of knowing yourself and not conforming to the expectations of society. To 'always ascend' felt to me like a message of resilence and the action of seeking personal growth through difficult times," explains Kam.

HAAi celebrated the South London artist's lyrics as having "so much meaning and heart", which are tied together by "Jon's incredible synth sounds."

In the lead up to the release of her DJ-Kicks mix, HAAi threw a party for her friends and fans last night (November 9) at small-capacity venue 17 Little Portland Street, with the DJ and producer going b2b with album collaborators I.JORDAN and The Blessed Madonna for a frenzied set, skipping between dubstep, donk and Latin sounds on a powerful soundsystem.
