Habits Of Hate is Happa and Manni Dee.

The former isn't old enough to get into clubs yet and the latter is barely into his twenties. Given their age, it's impressive that they've landed releases on Perc Trax, Black Sun, Text and R&S between them. But then their age probably has a lot to do with it. The techno they make is fuelled by the unbridled energy and disregard for conformity that's inherent in youth.

If you're into ear-blistering dance music made for rank basements and sodden-floor warehouses, then you'll have come across their respective careers so far. Happa dropped a mix for us back in 2012 and counts Mary Anne Hobbs, Four Tet and Loefah as fans. Despite the fact that his older brother has to accompany him to all gigs, he's been racking up shows across the board and looks set to blaze a trail in the techno world. We've been charting Manni Dee's gradual rise in the magazine (see EP reviews here and here) as the productions that we've heard from him are always scorching. As Habits Of Hate, the duo funnel their shared love of heaviness into one project and the results so far have been brutal.

So far they've put out an EP via ace independent label Electronic Explorations (cop it here). The tracks contained on it seethe and bristle and sound otherworldly. They came about after Happa and Manni started chatting online and swapping stems sometime last year. After sending emails back and forth, tunes started to emerge and Habits Of Hate took formation.

After announcing their intent with the Electronic Explorations EP, their readying more music and are currently working to the mantra of "freedom within a functional framework."
