Grimes shares clever plan to legally change her name

"Claire has been the bane of my existence since I became sentient"

Quirky pop artist Grimes, also known as Claire Boucher, has announced that she plans to legally change her name.

Announcing her plan via Twitter, Grimes shared the intriguing vision behind the name change. “I’m legally changing my name from Claire to ‘c’, as in the speed of light,” she wrote. “This will be much better”

The speed of light aspect is obviously important, as the official symbol for the speed of light is a lower-case italic "c", which Grimes clarified will be the format of her name.

When a fan asked if Elon Musk was behind the inspiration, given the two recently began dating, Grimes added that he had some influence: “Well he’s the one who pointed out that my working nickname (c) actually rocks and I don’t need to look further... Been trying 2 change name forever but couldn’t find a good one, but my friends call me c”.

As to whether she wants people to actually call her c from now on, Grimes touched on how she doesn't identify with her given name: “If u like... Claire has been the bane of my existence since I became sentient... I can barely say it w my speech impediment although c is technically worse for lisp”.

In other Grimes related news, Elon Musk recently berated streaming platforms for "crazy low payouts" when telling the public to go listen to her music.
