Grand Theft Auto 6 is “well underway” as Rockstar confirm next game
The next edition will be available for both Xbox and PS5
Almost a decade after the release of Grand Theft Auto V, the next edition in the series has been officially confirmed.
The announcement of GTA 6 follows years worth of speculation circling the next release. Rockstar, the award-winning game’s developers, has now revealed that the next edition is in development, though no release date has been confirmed.
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” Rockstar posted in a blog titled ‘Grand Theft Auto Community Update’ over the weekend.

“With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered – and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway,” they confirmed.
Grand Theft Auto V was first released in 2013 after several delays and later added expansions and the world-renowned GTA V Online platform allowing players to interact virtually in-game.
Since its release, GTA V has worked alongside the dance music community with some of the biggest in-game showcases and virtual events as well as the creation of Circoloco Records, a partner-up between the game developers and Ibiza’s Circoloco.

“We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details,” Rockstar added. “On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”
While the next edition is currently in the works, speculation over its release date and next backdrop for GTA 6 is still circling.
