Glastonbury's Beat Hotel is launching a festival in Marrakech
Peach, Palms Trax, Hunee and Nabihah Iqbal are playing the debut event
Glastonbury staple the Beat Hotel has announced details of its first ever international event, Beat Hotel Marrakech.
The four-day festival on the outskirts of Marrakech will feature a diverse music programme featuring live music, local performers and DJs.
Set to take place across March 28 to 31 next year, organisers promise a schedule of “daytime pool sessions and late night villa parties” set in a 27-acre, palm tree-laden resort 15 minutes from the Moroccan city.
Artists locked in to play include Gerd Janson, Nabihah Iqbal, Palms Trax, Hunee, Maribou State, Peach, Andrew Weatherall, Young Fathers, Perel, Annabel Fraser and Alexis Taylor.
Gilles Peterson, HAAi, Job Jobse, Moscoman, Awesome Tapes from Africa and Teleman are also set to perform.
Beat Hotel Marrakech will showcase the best of Morocco’s music scene. “4000-year-old rock and roll band” Master Musicians of Joujouka and all-female collective Deep Throat Choir will perform, while local DJs Yasmean and Polyswitch, as well as many more, will play sets.
The event will include a literary programme curated by Faber & Faber featuring talks by Irvine Welsh, Andrew Weatherall and novelist David Keenan.
The Beat Hotel has become a Glastonbury institution since its arrival in 2011, beloved among festival-goers for its eclectic cocktail menu and consistently strong round-the-clock DJ line-ups that have included Jamie xx and Ben UFO.
