Girl loses fingertip in Reading Festival mosh pit
The 16-year-old lost the top of her finger after waiting an hour to see Aitch
A 16-year-old girl lost her fingertip in a mosh pit at Reading Festival on bank holiday weekend.
The girl, now known publicly as Summer Gibbs after going viral on TikTok, lost her fingertip during Aitch’s set, where she claims that she and her friends waited over an hour to see the Manchester rapper.
As Aitch came on stage, the 16-year-old said on TikTok that a mosh pit formed where she then got pushed against a barrier, with her finger “clamped in between two fences”.

A video shows security guards and crowd members helping the girl to remove her finger, before being carried off by security.
“There were so many people trying to get the fence apart and free my finger and because of the adrenaline, I didn’t feel any pain as it was happening,” she said. “I don’t really remember being walked towards the stage.”
Gibbs explained that she faded in and out of consciousness as the incident happened, and had a panic attack that “lasted 2 hours”.
She says that the pain started to kick in shortly after being rushed to hospital, where doctors took x-rays and bandaged up her finger. The tip of her finger was reportedly fractured and came off during the incident.
